Fennec Foxes are adorable, but you shouldn't want one just because it's cute.
Fennec's have only recently have started being introduced as 'pets' and are still very much wild creatures.
They require a lot of love and care.
Also, in regards to it 'being no more than a dog' that's entirely wrong.
Even though it's part of the canine family if a fennec escapes from your house you'll just about never find it again, let alone catch it.
They also need special medicanes and high protein dog foods (at the very least).
Also, they're easily frightened and startled, which, if your not careful can hurt them.
Fennec foxes are also on the CITES list as a category Appendix 2, meaning you need a lot of special forms and regulations to follow in order to get one.
Fennec's are adorable, but you really need to look and research heavily about them before even thinking to get one.

The recent commenter is right, you should never purchase any animal without thorough research of its habits and needs. It's also important to note that most exotic pets are wild animals at heart, they will not spend all day snuggling you like a domesticated animal will.

the 2nd person is right, you should never buy a pet untill you've done some research on it first, but if you have done all your research and you still want one then i say go for it!
i'm totally with you on how cute fennec foxes are. i just love their giant ears. i've done hours of research and i know this is the perfect pet for me, now if only i had the money then i would go out right now and buy one:-)

I would love to have a fennec fox! or a serval/bobcat or lynx. I would absolutly love that kind of responsiblity. I'm going into vet school, so taking care of the animal seems as though it would be easier. I love exotic animals, and I want to be a vet for the san diego zoo!

Animals are not here for our entertainment. Or for commodity. Anyone who wants to take wild animals from their environment for selfish, vacuous reasons needs to re-examine their ideals.

The 6th person was right. Fennec foxes- ANY WILD ANIMAL - don't belong in an apartment in a cage. Just because they're adorable doesn't mean you have to steal their lives away by dressing them up like dolls and calling them 'your pet'. That's just wrong.

I agree that fennec foxes are cute, but they are on the IUCN redlist and under the protection of the Appendix II of the Convention in International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), as the previous person stated so any purchase of this animal could very well be illegal! If the illegal issues are'nt convincing then some facts you should know besides it being a wild animal, that should'nt be held in form of captivity, it is currently threatened by habitat fragmentation and that the fennec fox is monogamous meaning they only have one mate for life and if people are taking these foxes from there environment you could very likely be buying some other foxes mate which will never breed again with another; reducing the population and seperating their families....
