Here's a cute pair of skinny jeans from Mavi and they aren't too expensive. I've recently learned that if the jean leg has a hole of 12" then it's a skinny jean. Smaller is a legging jean (dear god), and larger goes from straight leg jeans (15") to boot cut jeans (19") and finally trouser or wide leg jeans (20"). The more you know!

This is basically Marilyn Monroe's famous dress though I don't think you should dress it up to be retro. It's perfect for sultry summer nights with slides and an almost bare face (you need red lips of course). You pull your hair back but a few wisps escape... ahh, I love fantasizing about clothes.
And it's on sale, down from $200 to $137 at ShopBop.

Aren't these shoes just adorable? They're totally portable and so simple chic. I can see Audrey Hepburn wearing them with some capris and a cigarette holder.
I do wish they offered black but I really need to open my horizens on shoes, wearing colored shoes does not make it impossible to match an outfit. Though I'll probably buy them in slate anyway.
Wow this image is long and I don't have anything more to say about these shoes. They're $120 (someone please buy these for me!) at Girlshop.
I wish Girlshop opened a binch of chains, I know they have a location in NY, but there's nothing around here. Why are there never good stores in my area??? Or maybe I'm too lazy to find them. At least there's always the Internet.

Wow, I absolutely adore this designer I just discovered. Her clothes have that structured look I like, at least her new Fall line. But they all have slightly funky looks to them, like an open backed shirt, etc. You can get a bunch of her stuff on Funky LaLa.

Cynthia Vincent has a line that I've seen everywhere lately: Twelfth Street By Cynthia Vincent. Most of the clothes have lots of lace detail and have this weird Victorian/Bohemian vibe, if that makes sense. You can get some of her stuff at Fashion Pulse.

How cheeky is this ring?!?! It's the ultimate "eff you" to the bling bling... well it would be if it wasn't $90. Of course a real diamond would be much more, but for a fake one it's a little pricey. I still love it though, get it at Etsy, which is a very very cool store where non-professionals can sell their junk. Which means very unique clothes that no one else has - awesome.

I tend to make fun of JC Penny, but here's a cute structured bag that's on sale right now for just $25! It looks a lot more expensive (at least in the picture) than it is and is a pretty cream and brown. And structured bags are one of the things to have for fall.

Ohh, you can now buy this purse, which had sold out on Amazon a month ago! Again, it's $80 and have several differnt looks (you can fold over the top flap to make it regular rectangle-purse shape). So quickly buy it before it sells out again!
My boyfriend's mother is very conservative, so I was thinking about buying a one-piece bathing suit for those times when I need to look more demure. Well, nevermind because apparently every moderately-priced one piece is either the ugliest old lady pattern ever, a boring black suit to make you look skinny or ribbon sewn together for a stripper-tastic look. Where are the cute, trendy one pieces in fun prints and shapes? I was surprised to find a few on Newport News (swim dresses are kinda fun!), but it seems you have to spend a lot of money on a cute one-piece suit. Any suggestions?
Here's a swimdress for $34:

I really like short, cropped blazers. Here's a nice simple one you can get at Bluefly for just $120, or $108 if you buy it today! That's right, Bluefly is having yet another one of their 10% off sales. Quick, shop or else you may have to wait until the next one, which will probably be in another 10 days.
Here is an ultimate buy. A cute little black shift which you can wear to work or out to the bar. It's part of the Izaac Mizrahi collection at Target and it's only $18. Can't beat the that price! Though I'm not sure if you should order in online because in the reviews one women said it ran small and another woman said it ran big. So this may have to be a try it on situation. Of course, since it's so cheap, you could just buy two and return the one that doesn't fit!

For the first time, I tried waxing my face today. Though it hurt a little, it worked surprisingly well - just as well as a professional waxing job. I recommend the above because it's cheap and pretty easy to use. Yes ladies, you too can have a hairless face for just $7!

I love love love love this belt. I love the double ring loop closure and I love how you can wear it sideways like this. I've been looking for a belt like this... now I just need to find a cheap version of it. Get it at Big Drop NYC for $242.
I own about ten bathing suits. And while I have managed to gain ten pounds over the past two years and rarely wear them, I think I do have great taste in picking one out. I really feel that ViX has the best cuts and I prefer one with side ties so it doesn't dig into my hips and make me look fat. Plus polka dots are chic and the colors of this suit really stand out. You can buy the tops and bottoms seperate and it would be a totaly of $125.

What a difference a day (or week) makes. When we first met you, everyone was expecting you to be the villian this season. You seemed arrogant, ignorant and just plain annoying. People were already talking about if your accent was real or not.
Then last night happened.
I admit, I cried for a good 15 minutes.
You completely turned yourself around, you were humble, thoughtful, friendly and damn likable. You took blame for you design. By the time you were kicked off, I was rooting for you - everyone was. When you got kicked off, you were emotional but you had a certain grace and dignity about you that took me by surprise. When you said how you've never had many friends, how you liked being apart of something with people, I started openly crying.
I hope you take saloce in the fact that you've managed to change everyone's opinion of you in just one episode. I don't know what happened with your dress, it seemed to run off track somewhere. But I wish you all the best in fashion and I plan to be looking for your designs in the future, credit card at the ready.

Apparently Paris herself is also blind. Can someone please save all her animals from her? It's as if she kills off a pet every week and gets a new one. And the dress... it's not really ugly in a way that inspires witty remarks, it's just ugly.

Wow, Smartbargains.com is now one of my favorite online shopping sites. Once you shift through the muck, you can find some amazing clothes for really cheap.
Here is a totally cute, totally trendy blazer by Marc Jacobs for only $53! It's retail value is $360! I love the asymmetrical front and the puff sleeves (just a touch of girly). It's totally hot and a great piece for Fall.

With it blisteringly hot here in Fashionland (100 degrees!), I've decided to show women how to keep cool at the office. I searched for hours for a pair of slim work shorts as opposed to the wide-legged or overly-pocketed variety. Anyway, this is my favorite because it's cheap (only $59), simple chic and you can get it at a Macy's, store near you!

I know my blog is about fashion, but if you have wavy/frizzy/coarse hair like I do, you must try Terax shampoo and conditioner. I hate the way the shampoo smells but it's like my hair gets a Japanese straightening treatment in the middle of the most humid summer day. I swear, I'm never buying anything else ever again!

Cole Haan is owned by Nike. Imagine wearing sneakers but they look like this. Mmmmm, heaven. With their cushie soles and thier hot secretary appearence, I love it. If they're as comfortable as I hear, they're totally worth the $265.
Oooo, check out this spa wrap. It's perfect for lounging around the house/pool and letting yourself feel decadent. Can't you just see yourself wrapped up in it poolside in Cabo San Lucas? Get it at Garnet Hill for $118. If it wasn't terry cloth, it would also be a cute summer dress!

The site, Aural New York, has these headphones for you iPod. They're exactly the same except they come in three colors, pink, black and blue. Completely frivolous but totally adorable, these headphones stand out. Get them for $15.

It's very hard to not post a bunch of Fall clothes now that they're coming into stores. So I'm resisting by posting the summer sale clothes.
This is an adorable dress with a pretty medow print this just quintessential summer. Summer, summer, summer. I must not obsess over new fall clothes (it's just the best season for clothes in my opinion). Get this dress at Antropologie for $90.

I think this D&G shrug is a cute and unique way to update some of your old clothes. Plus, once fall rolls around, you can wear your tanks under this and stay warm, yet extend your summer wardrobe by a few months. Or you can make something office-ready when it was originally for the beach or bar.
Get it at Amazon for half off at just $150.
I rarely wear shorts unless I'm at the beach. I prefer skirts which are just as airy, if not more, plus they are easier to fit right. But shorts are very in in in and I would hate for my readers to miss out on the cute pairs that are out there. This one is by Guess that's very structured and preppy and is $70.

Derek Lam was emerging designer of 2005. He had a bunch of girly pieces with light airy clothes and ruffles when he started. But he's going for a more structured style for upcoming Fall and I have to say that I love, love, looove it. Here are some examples:
Bright apple green is THE color of the moment.

Strechy knit dress with a cute drop waist (it probably won't go out of style until maybe next year) and it's only $30! Sometimes I make fun of Old Navy, but they do have some really cute pieces for really cheap. Plus it has a shelf bra! I love it when things with spagetti straps have shelf bras. Get it at Old Navy.

I spent a good while looking for fashion tape last year. I never found it. Well, to save you from the pain I felt of almost being exposed at a company Xmas party (yeah, I probably should have worn something more conservative anyway, but screw it) here it is on L'Adore Boutique.
I've been wanting a double buckle belt that looks like you could cinch it around your waist like this. Plus you can wear it loose around your hips in an off-center fashion so that the buckles fall on your hip bones and that would look super cute too!
It costs $121 and you can get it at Pink Mascara.

I swear this will be the last skirt I post for awhile. Normally I wouldn't post a plain black pencil skirt but this one is unique. Underneath this normal skirt lurks a "slim liner" which supposedly smooths out bumps and bulges much like body slimming underwear. Anyone try it before? Get it for $68 at BlissWorld.
Black cirlce skirt! I love how full and swingy a circle skirt can be. This one has pockets, which I loooove, me love skirts with pockets, don't care if it's just a fad, I love it forever. Diab'less is a pretty cool label, it's usually unique and the clothes are comfy. Plus it's almost half off at $115! Where can you get it? Why Bluefly of course!
Wednesday, July 05, 2006
I am obsessed with skirts. Since full skirts are the thing this summer and fall clothes are coming in, there's a lot of full skirts on sale now. Yay, I can wear them even on a fat day! This is a really cute one by Envi for $63. It's light pink and stretchy jersey with triangle panels which make it extra swishy. Get it at Bluefly.
Ya-Ya has actually been around since 1998, but it seems like the label has officially flooded the markets as one of the new hip lines. So here are some samples from Angela's Runway. Prices range from around $200-350, which is a little expensive for what looks to be an almost hippie chick/bohemia line. But there are definately some cute pieces.
If you're like me, you don't like thong sandals. They hurt inbetween my toes and I just can't wear them. So here's an ubercute flat sandal by Tracey Ross that has some gladiator details but not to the point of costumey. You can get it at Belle Gray for $165 (down from $330!).
