Nolita Anti-Anorexia Ads

Nolita Anti-Anorexia AdsItalian fashion brand Nolita has anti-anorexia billboards up around Milan just in time for their fashion week! Starring Isabelle Caro, suffering from anorexia since she was 13 and weighing just 67 lbs (31 kilos), the aim of the campaign is to "to use the naked body to show everyone the reality of this illness, caused in most cases by the stereotypes imposed by the world of fashion". Giorgio Armani defended fashion though, by saying, "Anorexia has reasons which are not linked to fashion. Even people who take no notice of fashion get anorexic." True, but I think the fashion world needs a wake up call and this billboard is certainly shocking enough. Maybe too shocking?
I think I'm gonna go eat a cookie.

I know this is a couple of years old, but people need to seethis.

However, the reality is that all "sample sizes" and runway sizes are a 0. If you're a size 4, forget it.

I don't understand why obesity is more ridiculed, while the icons for teenage girls (model, actresses) are all scary skinny. A woman with several ribs showing is considered skinny and chic, while a size 16 is gross and morbidly obese.

So I wish this ad campaign had hit London, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal...ecetera.
