Nubar
One of the latest beauty products I've tried is Nubar nail polish. It's supposed to be a healthy alternative to regular nail polish because it's formaldehyde, phthalate, and toluene free! And it comes in a cute "bouquet" packaging that's perfect as a gift. "Pink Rose Bouquet Collection, symbolizing the giving of bouquets that represents a gift to someone special for any occasion." The color of your painted nail is the same as it appears in the bottle, which is a plus if anyone else is annoyed with other ones where red in the bottle is actually watermelon on your nails. It doesn't claim to be chip resistant but doesn't seem to chip as easily as others. The colors include pearly peach and pink to glossy shades of hot pink. The downside? Who needs so many shades of hot pink in one package? But they also are sold individually for $6.99. 8-piece bouquet collection for $47.95. Buy at www.bynubar.com.
Afterglow Pure Soul Mascara
I’ve never paid attention to any ingredients or chemicals in mascara, but apparently most mascaras contain mercury. Minnesota actually has a statewide ban to keep mercury from cosmetics. Afterglow Pure Soul Mascara is mercury free and it's gluten-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, synthetic dye-free, perfume-free, petrochemical-free, phthalate-free, mineral oil-free, tar-free. And safe for sensitive eyes. It's supposed to be volumizing, but I didn’t notice that on my thin, short lashes. I’m not sure I would trade it for my lengthening and volumizing mascaras. But if anyone already has thick, long lashes and just needs a tiny bit of emphasis without the chemicals, this mascara would be perfect for you!
