Before someone kills me for posting only outrageously expensive items today... here are some shiny leggings that are actually affordable. People are still wearing them, so don't be shy. Plus it's they're only $38 at Urban Outfitters so if you wear them only 3 times it was still worth it!
What a pretty dress, if only I could afford it! The feather print curves all the way around to the back and costs $274 at Pixie Market.
Housing Works, the non profit organization committed to ending the twin crises of AIDS and homelessness, teams up with Rebecca & Drew, the brand known for revolutionizing your work wardrobe with its ingenious tailor-fit shirts and dresses. Rebecca & Drew and Housing Works will co-host a block party on September 6th to raise awareness and donations. Attached is the invite to the event. Rebecca & Drew have promoted the upcoming event by flying kites in central park last weekend in the shape of their classic Trio-Fit button front shirt and handing out invitations. They will also fly kites in the Hamptons this coming weekend to promote.
The event will feature a lot of different interactive activities for attendees to participate in. There will be an author signing with Andrea Lavinthal, the author of "Friend or Frenemy," from 12-2pm, sketch artists, face painters, live music, shopping and much much more!
Quick, rush order or but this Ali Ro jacket at Saks before fashion week starts! I would pair this over a flowy dress for a perfect summer to fall look. Buy for $299.
Apparently these Nat-2 shoes are two in one! Regular sneakers or, unzip and poof! Open toed sandals! You can then fold up the sneaker canvas topper and stuff it in your purse. There currently tres hard to find (online store coming "soon") and will usually cost about £60 or about $120 US dollars. Ooh, and I just found an online store that sells them, Coilex Store, but it's not in English :(
More summer clothes just in time for fall... oh wait. Well, I think you could rock this breezy top with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans in mid October at least. Buy at Calypso for the sale price of $189.
These booties are great for fall, they have a corset style, goth look to them. Best of all, they're an affordable $140 at Bloomingdale's!
These amused me, therefore here they are! I love the look of spats. Buy at PlasticLand for $19.
As I have mentioned, another trend for fall is retro preppy. Herringbone, tweed, tartan and argyle are all elements. It's a relatively polished look, perfect for work since it's only subtly sexy. It what I imagine Blair Waldorf will be wearing int he upcoming season of "Gossip Girl!"

I recently posted about an ombré animal print cardigan, but I just found a similar one that's more affordable, so think of this as a belated Lust for Less :P Buy this one at Marciano for $118.
This dress has a bit of that bold lace look so popular for fall, but without the hefty price tag! Buy at Guess for $89.

Drugstore chain CVS has announced plans to open upscale beauty emporiums — about the size of a Sephora store — filled with previously untouchable department store brands.
To drive home the drugstore chain’s seriousness about tackling prestige beauty, the concept will be called Beauty 360, with no mention of CVS in sight. The first concept store is slated to open by year’s end in a major East Coast city. I'm gonna go ahead a guess New York.
CVS is keeping the brand names to be sold in Beauty 360 a secret, but have acknowledged there are 32 lines, excluding fragrance, across skin care and cosmetics. CVS executives described the lines as “department store or specialty store brands.”
Hmm, what beauty lines have I looked for in Sephora, but didn't find..? Terax (which they USED to carry) and Sonya Dakar come to mind. Maybe we should send in a list of requests for them ;)

I can't believe someone has this 3.1 Philip Lim skirt on sale already! Buy at La Garçonne for $210, originally $524.
A style for fall that I'm not very interested in is "American Classic." Think 1950s preppy. Yet I totally adore this coat, which fits in perfectly with that style. I suppose everything in moderation, I would pair this with some ripped jeans to punk it up a bit. Buy at Searle for $498.
These Charlotte Ronson heels are perfect for fall, I can't believe they're on super sale! Originally $198 at Shop Bop, they're now just $60! And they have whole sizes 6-10 still available, not just size 5.5 or the usual for cute shoes on sale.
I love hard clutches like these, they feel so vintage fancy! Buy this one at South Moon Under for only $76.
Another option for those rocking the grunge look, this babydoll top is a perfect mix of chic and casual. Buy at Kitson for $125 in red or blue.
I know, I know, I'm slacking this morning! To make up for it, here's a bathing suit just in time for fall :P Buy at Elizabeth Charles, originally $349 but on sale for a more reasonable $88.
Since this tee is by Lorick, the designs behind Blair's mom's line, than maybe it will appear on "Gossip Girl" this season! Buy at Standard Deviation for $69 and be ahead of the game.
These pants by upcoming designer Chree are just fabulous! They have a very unique look that feel a little equestrian - chaps maybe? Buy for $360.
Arm warmers are a fun way to rock the grunge look, and these Marc by Marc Jacobs ones are pretty fabulous! The arm warmers themselves are detachable and are worn over the wrist length pink gloves. Buy at Standard Style for $88.

Hmm, if you were going to go for five trends this fall I would go for a smart blazer, a fringe accessory, oxford booties, a leather jacket of motorcycle or bomber style and some bold lace. So I've found two of each, one affordable and one OMG what are you thinking that's my rent money, just for you!
Didn't get on the Lancôme black lip gloss waiting list? Lucky for you, the YSL one just opened today, so rush and pre-order now for $28!
The front pockets on this tunic practically look like little rosettes, how adorably pretty! This is a cozy piece that you can buy at Makool Loves You for $148.
Get 15 percent off American Eagle Outfitters when you type "62784648" at checkout today only!
The Tracy Reese spring 2009 collection is an ethereal progression of nature through the seasons with delicate, yet sophisticated pieces that emanate modern romance.
Pastel prints inspired by Japanese art feature chrysanthemums and hazy blue skies while structured leather is softened with touches of leaf appliqué. Relaxed and draped silhouettes feature hues of a sumptuous green garden that are intensified with Van Gogh inspired prints of the same palette. Summer comes full circle with architectural shapes and defined prints of sleek stripes and laser cut lace.
I used to hate grunge as a fashion style, but it seems to be growing on me this year! I totally blame the Olsen twins. Try this plaid dress found at Urban Outfitters for $148 with tights and a cropped leather jacket for fall.
I seriously considered buying this Viktor & Rolf coat, but I decided I needed to save money and the lapels were a little odd for my taste. Plus there's some fringe on the back hem I was iffy about. But it's ombré (you know I'm addicted!) and it's on sale from $1,184 to $298 at Yoox! If you think it's worth it, buy it soon before I change my mind :O
This purse has got to be one of the best deals I've seen online! It looks rich and expensive without being owned by every princess on the upper east side. Because It purses are just SO over! Buy for the sale price of $99 at La Rousse before it's gone!
This ring is so rock I can barely stand it! Pre-order it once it restocks in gunmetal or antique gold for a mere $110 (it looks like it would cost $550 or something!) at Made Her Think.
Found Via Who What Wear
Booties, booties and more booties!!!!!! Here's an affordable brown pair with fun gold hardware. The low ankle hole helps elongate the legs! Buy at ShopRobertson for $100.
I'm very close to buying this t-shirt! I like how it's designer (Karen Walker) and yet obscure enough that no one else will be wearing it (unlike a certain Off The Deep End Tee everyone has now). Buy at Zendie for the sale price of $44 Australian dollars or about $38 US dollars.
Ombré AND leopard print?? How could you possibly go wrong with this for fall! Buy at Bloomingdale's for $178.
Because these Rag & Bone leggings have a fly, most of you could get away with wearing them to work!! Just make sure to pair with a long-ish top and you'll get to be comfortable all day. Buy at ShopTwigs for $230.
Get this great tough chic purse for fall, only $45 at Asos. And you can possibly get 10% off your purchase when you enter in the code "FASHION" before midnight in London (don't ask me what time that would be, I believe they're about five hours ahead of the US East Coast).
More tiers for you! I love the light to dark scalloped tiers, giving this top an ombré or dip dye effect! Buy at Coco & Delilah for $202.
A very popular style of skirt right now, this tiered floral mini is on sale for only $64 at Pixie Market.
Now all the dramatic "costume jewelry" pieces in for fall will break your budget! Get this pretty cuff for only $58 at Ann Taylor.
Wow, MTV is going to air a reality show, "Model Maker," focused on girls who want to model but have to lose weight first. A press release about the show reads:
Women come in all shapes and sizes, but models don't. The term model conjures an image of stick-thin, towering beauties oozing confidence, glamour, poise and sexuality from every pore. "Skinny," "no body fat," and "size zero" are the words and phrases associated with models. "Chubby," "well-fed," and "big- boned" are not … With weekly eliminations looming, models must put their best foot forward at all times while staying focused on losing weight.A rep for the show said they'll do so "in a healthy and realistic time span." Contestants must be between the ages of 17 and 24, five foot nine and six feet tall, and 130 and 190 pounds. Is that before the show even starts? Gee, why not reward challenge winners with lipo and other plastic surgery while you're at it? This show makes me horrified and angry, something I hope MTV's advertisers will feel too.
In November Lancôme will be debuting a make-up collection with Color Fever Lipstick in Piha Red and a new sheer gloss, Piha Black. Layered, they produce a cool effect as seen to the right! Only 500 sets will be made available at Bloomingdale's, Lancôme boutiques and Lancome-USA.com. I recommend getting on the waiting list at Bloomingdale's by calling 1-212-705-2886 soon. I've heard that it costs $48, but Bloomingdale's said $28, so who knows!
I thought I had already posted this blouse but I couldn't find it, so sorry if this is a repeat! I love the ruffle front and the poet sleeves. Originally $154, it's now just $46 at Active Endeavors.
I like how the purple is really softened by the white in this sweater. The way the color blocking has been done you look slim and your face is brightened - the focal point. It's just been well thought out, which I know I appreciate. Buy at Arden B. for $68.
I can't stop being drawn to cut out shoes, especially when the hole is on the vamp area of the shoe like this! These are only $120 at Macy*s.
Fall is also seeing a bit of grunge coming into style, mostly knit hats, boots and plaid. This dress is striking a perfect balance between trendy and classic, making it wearable for years to come. Buy at the Gap for $58.
I've never seen a short sleeve blazer that's long and loose, but it works really well! Since the arms are bare, you don't get overwhelmed by the loose fit. Buy at Milk for the sale but expensive price of $576, originally $1,153.
I have a pet peeve about people who dress way down on casual Fridays. Of course every office is different, if your company has a dog and people cook their lunch on a George Foreman at their desk maybe you can get away with flip flops. And people who work in fashion can get away with almost anything as long as it's designer! But for the average office, certain rules still apply such as no sweats, no torn jeans (no matter how in they are right now), no flip flops, no white athletic shoes (maybe that's just my rule), no bare shoulders, no offensive slogan tees. That doesn't mean you can't be more comfortable, but remember you still have to look professional! Here are three casual Friday outfits I've created for you:
A lightweight jacket perfect for summer to fall transition dressing. I really like how unusual the hood is too! Buy in navy or olive at Elizabeth Charles for $345.
