Temperley London is a great line, launched in 2000 by Alice Temperley. The label has a bit of an romantic, rock and roll vibe, and did a collection with Target back in 2007. Well, I guess due to the success of it's collaboration, it's going to launch it's own more affordable line this spring, with prices starting around $57 and maxing out around $500. Much less than the average of $1,500 for a dress! I can't wait for more details to come out!!
This Twinkle by Wenlen blouse has a great retro feel and a beautiful print! Buy at Twinkle Living for the sale price of $139.
"A BikiniBand is a thin, translucent, stretchable band worn around your chest and over your swimsuit top. The patented, tan-through band securely holds your top in place, allowing you to untie your straps and relax strap-free. Whether you're walking, reading, sleeping or chatting with your friends, a BikiniBand makes your time in the sun hassle-free and keeps you looking picture perfect for any summer outfit (and neckline)!"
I truly hate tan lines with strapless dresses, so I was really interested in this product! I tried it at the pool, and it definitely prevented tan lines! It was secure enough to walk with too, though I did get some odd looks. But for only $9 it's totally worth it!
I really like the top portion of this Vanessa Bruno romper, with the epaulets on the shoulders and interesting seaming. Buy at Madison LA for the 50% off sale price of $254.
I know, I've been posting a lot of crop tees lately, but can I help it if the fashion gods have dictated they are chic?? And that I do whatever the fashion gods tell me to do?? At least this is affordable, just $17 at American Apparel. And look at all the different color options! I have a strange urge to layer one over a bodysuit now...
Peter Pilotto is certainly up and coming! This London-based designer, who trained at the legendary Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, is fast becoming an editor favorite and is certainly one to watch. I die over the prints, which seem to subtly oscillate like a kaleidoscope! This may be due to the fabulous draping. The collection was inspired by the big bang theory, very explosive! You can purchase pieces at Opening Ceremony but price points go from $1,020 up to almost $2,000! It's not cheap being a fashion insider :P
Oh wow, the Spring '10 Rebecca Taylor collection is going to be super crave-worthy, start saving your moneys now!
"The Rebecca Taylor girl for spring explores urban femininity. She works, lives and plays in the city. Towering printed sandals and architectural structured stretch dresses are softened with femme corset-inspired bustiers and flippy, fun, pull on printed skirts. Our girl likes to wear her boyfriend’s blazers and super soft cashmere athletic inspired sweaters thrown over top tiny leather skirts.
Spring 2010 encompasses playful use of colors, prints and textures. The palette is intense with shades of big apple reds, shocking pinks, electric blues, and retro jades contrasted with desert tans and soft, peachy oranges. Sharper than seasons past, strong shoulders and a new, waisted silhouette enhance the look our girl wantonly craves. "
Love the colors and ruffles, can't wait!
From the front this is a regular, black open-front cardigan. But from the back it's got a super cute zebra print, surprise! Buy at Bluefly for $219.
I love dance, so present your fashion line to me with a little booty-shaking and I'm sold! Kensie's Junior line KensieGirl does just that with the fun video featuring the StoneFoxx Dance crew breaking it down to the song "Shake it Like A Girl." They look like they are having a great time and its infectious!
Wow, there are some amazing deals at Luna Boston's Retro Friday Sale. I almost bought some shoes, originally $400 but marked down to $75 but they did not have my size... tear!
I remember when some limited edition Converse knee highs came out and everyone loved (or really hated). Well, these are pretty similar and you can buy at Payless for just $30.
Get 25% off everything at menswear store Fine and Dandy with the code "ONEDAY09" by the end of the day today!
I really like the details on this clutch, the cutout handle, push-lock detail and hanging tassel! Buy at Juicy Couture for the sale price of $171.
Can you tell I'm feeling chic camo print for fall?? Get this cropped top at Charlotte Russe for $26.

I really like the green and black on this skirt, as well as the almost brushstroke style plaid print! Buy at Milk for $216.
I have yet to find a pair of perfect leather shorts, too short of tight and you can be mistaken for a lady of the night :O But I do feel like I'm getting closer! These Charlotte Ronson ones would be great except I just cannot pull off the high waisted look. If you can, but at Revolve Clothing for $193.
This Madison Marcus dress is such a great mix of elegant and tough! Tiers of silk trimmed with grommets, what's not to love? Buy at Cusp for $285.
It's pouring here in DC! Luckily I have a coat in my car, but it's not nearly as cute as this one! It has some interesting Matrix-like qualities about it, don't you think? Buy at ModCloth for $100.
I am thrilled to announce that Geren Ford has launched a new E-commerce site. Since Geren Ford has no retail boutiques, this is the first time you can shop the entire collections! The covetable items available on the site feature urban, edgy black leather and exposed zippers paired with feminine ruffled tops. Most items range from $200 to $400, an affordable price point for great designer pieces.
Geren Ford designer, Geren Lockhart, began her career as an advertising production executive during which time she had the opportunity to travel the world. During this time she designed her first pair of pants. Eventually leaving advertising, she studied fashion design at Parsons and launched the Geren Ford line in 2002. Last year Geren Ford was selected one of the 10 most exciting US Brand by Saks 5th Avenue and featured as part of their contemporary department showcase.
With the advent of the new site launch I had the opportunity to ask designer Geren Lockhart a few questions about the new website and the Geren Ford Line:
What items are exclusive to the website?
“Not with this first launch and the Fall 09 collection, but watch for the website to be a medium to explore categories, collaborations and exclusives for our customers.”
What lead to the decision to start an e-commerce site?
“For Geren Ford, the need came from our customer. We have an incredibly loyal support base, that until now we have not been able to reach directly or create a brand experience for them to enjoy. As a brand, it allows us to interact directly and try to take the customer on a journey of interpretation ~ a portal for us to communicate with her directly.”
Where do you get your inspiration?
“The art, film, music and architecture found in the diverse and fantastic cities of the world have shaped the vision of the brand. It is the experiences that happen while surrounded by these different cultures that inspire a collection. By translating these influences into unique, alluring and functional garments, we infuse every woman’s wardrobe with worldly chic.”
Does your background in advertising influence your fashion designs?
“It influences how I build my brand, but not the designs. The influence from my past comes from the travels, locales, and incredible roster of creative talents I was surrounded by.”
Many designers have been participating more and more in social media, such as blogs or twitter accounts, with the advent of the e-commerce site, do you have any plans to expand your web presence further?
“Absolutely, it is a way to establish communication with our customer, and for her to learn about us as a brand and our voice.”
What is coming up in the future for the Geren Ford line?
“The possibilities are endless. As a business we have reacted aggressively to the “new” market that we now all exist in. We hope to grow the core brand offering and the categories that we sell. Watch out for the Spring 2010 show, as we will have new categories debuting and one very exciting new collaboration.”
This long, cozy-looking cardigan has a bit of a Native American style print, but in grey! It's the kind of layer you'd throw on when skiing in Aspen or the like. Buy at Tobi for the final sale price of $58.
This Alexander McQueen top with zipper details on the shoulders is another great buy if you need to update your wardrobe for fall! Plus, I feel like zebra print is less season specific than leopard print, which I usually only wear in the fall and winter. Buy at Chick Downtown for the sale price of $204.
This coming fall/winter, Diesel will debut a new collection of jeans, t-shirts and sneakers with a special florescent coating that will make the clothes glow in the dark. The collection will be called "Flash for Fun," a name I have to admit brings to mind a skeevy naked man in a trench coat rather than glowing clothing. That aside, I think this is a fun idea, although I think only elements of the clothing will glow. I want the whole pair of jeans to glow so I look like a disembodied pair of denim dancing around the room! Get more info at this weird fake twitter site that confuses and befuddles me.
This Nicholas K blouse would almost definitely overwhelm my tiny frame, even if paired with leggings, I wonder how it would look with a belt... Buy at Otte for $228 if you want to pass for Mary-Kate Olsen.
Beauty, Style, & the Blogosphere
Edited by Ashe Mischief
Beauty and Style come in many forms, and this weeks Links á la Mode choices showcase the many discussions entering the world of fashion blogging at the moment: excessive judgments, the value of personalities, and cultivating your inner beauty as well as your outer beauty. Bonne-Vie challenges the values of the show “More to Love” and Fivve Blog shares model sensation Lara Stone. Newcomer Jaka’s Tea Party calls to action with the Wholestyle Manifesto and Betsey J asks “Are we too judgmental as fashion bloggers?”Bland by Teddy Willoughby is an upcoming label that's generating a lot of buzz with the downtown cool kids! The two collections so far have been very black, moody and a little scary - without doubt unique! Willoughby studied at Parsons and worked for a few years as a freelance designer, hanging out with the tres arty crowd in NYC until deciding to launch his own line last year. As far as I can tell there is no website yet, but I hear his fake cigarette pin accessory sold out at Colette super fast!
This clutch feels very '80s inspired, which is perfect for fall! Available at Bagslag in pink, black, silver or white for £50 or about $83 US Dollars.
Via Fashion Tribes
It's possible that I just bought these... aren't they totally fab??!? On point with the round sunglasses trend, the flip up shades are a great way to differentiate yourself from everyone else's round sunglasses (except me, who will be wearing them too!). Buy at 80s Purple for $10.
These jeans are super cute and selling out fast! The bleach splatters look kinda glow in the dark, no? Get your pair at Patricia Field for $86 now!
