RIP Prescriptives

Many of you know that Prescriptives plans to close all their makeup counters at the end of January 2010. The say the good news is that you can continue to purchase online, including custom blend foundation (you have to get the recipe in store first tho!). But did anyone else notice they added in "while inventory lasts"????? Does that mean once it's gone it's gone?

Sigh, I just want to take a moment to be sad about this. Prescriptives was the very first high-end makeup I bought, I remember being so excited about my first bottle custom blend foundation back when I was barely out of my tween years! I remember getting on the wait list for some gold shimmer limited edition lip gloss that I still have even though it's waaaaaaaaaay past its expiration date. I remember finding out that I was Yellow / Orange the same time my big sister found out she was Red / Orange - one of the first times I realized we had separate identities!

Prescriptives was part of my entrance into the world of sophisticated fashion and beauty, my graduation from drugstore cosmetics. I really hope the brand will live on online, but I suppose I'll always have my memories... and probably that pot of lip gloss that I now have to frame!
