Label to Know: Vionnet

I recently saw an amazing piece by a fashion brand I hadn't really heard of before, Vionnet. So I decided to look into the French label and really fell in love!
Called the "Queen of the bias cut" and "the architect among dressmakers," founder Madeline Vionnet is best-known today for her elegant Grecian-style dresses and for introducing the bias cut to the fashion world. Wow, she gets my eternal thanks for that! Alas, the brand laid relatively dormant until about 2007 when they hired Sophia Kokosalaki in an arrangement with Barney's New York.
Currently headed by Rodolfo Paglialunga, it has a flowy Parisian vibe, very sophisticated and yet feminine at the same time. It's uber-drapy and the recent fall collection was a great mix of edgy and soft. Some seriously covetable cocktail frocks going on here!

You can find pieces at Barney's and online at Net-A-Porter.
