Alexandre Herchcovitch S/S '11

Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch is known for edgy collections and a cult following, so I was excited to see what he had in store for us for spring 2011! Plus I was actually seated front row - I die!

Inspired by expressionist artists Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman, he created futuristic, abstract silhouettes highlighted with intense colors. Showing some surprisingly versatility, his collection was more sophisticated than urban, yet still maintained a strong visual impact. I liked the architectural sleeves, but really went bonkers over the accessories! The covered platform pumps were to die for (usually you see the platform only a the ball of the foot, not going all the way back to the heel) and the sunglasses were tres chic! The four unisex shades are a collaboration with MYKITA and have a very cool, modern feel to them.
