Anne Bowen S/S '11

Anne Bowen's Summer collection was all about cool, old fashioned glamour, combined with sexy modern cuts and sheer draped fabrics. Almost every piece shimmered and sparkled as it came down the runway, with garments encrusted with Swarovski crystals, shimmery chiffon silk, sequins and metallic leathers.

The run of show started with a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald, "Too much of anything is bad, but too much champagne is just right," a fitting statement for a collection that seemed inspired by the Jazz Age partyers of The Great Gatsby. The models strutted the runway with a confident swagger, and often bore a cigar in the hands. I could easily picture them in a black and white 1930's film exchanging witty quickfire repartee with a nattily dressed man in a smoke filled jazz club. These are women who can hold their own.

My favorite piece was this mens-wear inspired blazer and short set. A little masculine attitude but fully feminine sexy at the same time.
