Charlotte Ronson's spring 2011 collection hearkened back to the 1990's with a feminine grunge look that reminded me of slacker Gen X films like "Reality Bites" and "Singles."
Models walked the runway in light, silk, floral printed dresses, both long and short. Whether in sandals or booties, all sported socks slouched low around the ankles. Sweaters were tied around the waist. Many wore slouchy gray hats (which I loved) or hooded sweatshirts and jackets. Chambray and denim in a light, bleached-out wash, continued to bring me back in time. Colors ranged from khaki mixed with light, springy yellows and oranges, to blacks, grays and military olives.
The show was family affair, and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Audience members cheered wildly when Charlotte's half sister, Annabelle Dexter-Jones. walked down the runway, and twin sister Samantha Ronson DJ'd the show. Celebrities in attendance included The Veronicas (too bad they didn't perform), Alison Brie, and 90210 actress Shenae Grimes.
