Ports 1961 S/S '11

This was the first runway show for Ports 1961 since Fiona Cibani took over the reigns of Head Designer from her younger sister, Tia Cibani. While staying true to the spirit of Ports, the change seems to have instilled a refreshing vitality to the line. Inspired by desert landscapes, the collection consisted primarily of sandy camel tones and soft grays with some bold expressions of bright purple and green. Minerals were expressed with a light metallic sheen that gave the outfits a vibrant modernity. The drapery of many pieces brought to mind the formation of sand dunes slowly shifted by winds. Overall there was a feel of cool, relaxed summer elegance to the collection. When I dream of being wealthy world traveler, embarking on my high-luxury African safari vacation, this is what I'll be wearing.

Model of the moment, Freja Beha Erichsen closed the show (she also opened the show) in this amazingly gorgeous tattered chiffon dress that is certain to appear on a red carpet any day now.
