The Aisle

Certain industries are particularly out of date. I would have to say the business of weddings is one of them - why exactly can't you take pictures while trying on dresses? Because that's somehow different from what you can easily pull from a website??But there has been some progress! Besides awesome online communities, such as The Knot, there has been a big increase in bridal e-commerce over the past year. Net-A-Porter has a great wedding boutique, and now a new site, The Aisle, will be launching soon! Offering gowns, veils, shoes and jewelry by designers such as Oscar de la Renta and Lela Rose, the site will also have editorial components, like an e-zine. Plus each purchase will donate 2% of every dress sale to a charity of the designer's choice!

Hmm, I'm all for buy accessories, bridesmaid dress and whatever online, but the actual wedding dress? I suppose if you're looking for something high end and specific, but don't live near a boutique that carries the dress you want. What do you think?

I think buying a wedding on-line is convenient yet a bit unrealistic. I feel that brides try on numerous dresses to get to the right one. Wedding dresses can somewhat be deceiving and I believe it is best to try on before buying. As for all the other stuff, accessories and such, I think it is the perfect idea.
