American Apparel is already quite affordable, so this piece on Bluefly is just a downright steal! Buy for the sale price of $21 in red or black.

I've owned these shoes for awhile, but they had been forgotten at the bottom of my closet for almost a year! I first put them on with a cute brown wrap dress and went "YEEECH!" They were giving me serious wedding shoe vibes and I decided then and there I would have to get rid of them. And then...
Well how do you like that, with a different outfit they have a completely different feel! Who'd thunk it? by pairing with my lack J Brand jeans they give almost an 80's vibe, much better!
To tie the outfit together I threw on my white headband and tah dah! What do you think?
Here a close up of my shoes, I really like the low sides. And now they've been saved from the donation bin!
And the neckline of my Tsumori Chisato top, which is just frigging beautiful.
Ok, I'm getting really sick and tired of online boutiques not knowing their own inventory. Most recently I tried to buy some cute alice + olivia for Payless clogs and guess what I found out today?
"Due to an inventory discrepancy, your order was accepted even though inventory was not available. Your order cannot be fulfilled."
This makes me SO ANGRY! What's even worse is that their store still says my size is in stock! Online boutique should never ever do this to their customers - it's one thing to show people all the great items they can't have, but to pretty much trick people into thinking they can buy something when they really can't is probably one of the most negative customer service experiences I can think of. Some of you may remember when this happened to me with Hautelook about a year ago. I don't believe I've purchased from them since, I was so angry at how they handled the situation. Will I ever attempt to buy something from Payless again? Most certainly not, I don't trust them to not disappoint me!
I mean, they could have at least provided info on what nearby stores have the shoes in stock, grumble, grumble, grumble. Will someone please buy them for me at the alice + olivia boutique in Bryant Park and ship to me, I'm a 6.5.

I've been into deconstructed, loose knit sweaters since Rodarte rocked them. Since then Alexander Wang and, more recently, Frank Tell showed amazing iterations! Alas, those are still out of my price range, but this one at TopShop sure isn't! Buy for $65.
WANNNNNT this Comme des Garçons jacket SOOOO badly! It's just so me, especially the back! I'm totally buying a cheap Forever 21 Blazer and hacking it up into something similar, just you wait! It'll go in line with all the other DIY projects I've yet to do! Buy at Far Fetch for $391.

This caplet style jacket is so pretty! It's totally giving me fairy tale vibes, but in a fresh modern way. It's neat how it kinda ties forward in the front, though I wonder if that would add too much volume for the busty women out there. It's definitely cute though, and can be yours for $255 at Revolve Clothing!
Remember when they just sold shoes??? Well now, in addition to shoes, accessories and clothing, Piperlime now has lots of cute swimwear to tempt you with! Lots of great brands including Marc by Marc Jacobs, Shoshanna, and Ella Moss. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go panic over being out of shape!

Oh wow, I actually really like this alice + olivia for Payless clog! The tan canvas top is almost a linen color, which I prefer over the middle range browns. And the base is either a super dark brown or black, again something I prefer. This may actually be the summer clog for me to try out, since its only $40, what do you guys think? Buy or no buy?
UPDATE: They're out of stock, even though their website claims they're not, so don't even bother :P
People always go gaga over my Henry Holland faux garter tights, but they're pretty much sold out everywhere. So unless you want to spend $50 for them on eBay, you were out of luck... until now! I found this pair at an Etsy shop Clutch 22 pointed out to me - not exactly the same but an affordable $15!
Continuing my quest to teach DC about high end designers and labels who's names aren't tossed around "Sex and the City" I am going to write about the amazing design house Nina Ricci.
You can buy Nina Ricci at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, and their bags at Barney's, but watch out for the crazy expensive prices! A tulle dress could easily run you $3,000! If I had to come up with a more affordable label that was similar, I would probably say Rebecca Taylor and maybe Tracy Reese?
I previously educated you on Thakoon and Rodarte, what's up with me fixating on floaty feminine designers? Next up will be Henry Holland or Jeremy Scott ;)
Pictures from NY Mag
I identified asymmetrical straps as one of my favorite trends for spring, and this Mason by Michelle Mason dress definitely fits the bill! I wish it didn't have that odd mesh insert under the bust, seems to be a touch too much. I also wish it wasn't a pricey $380 at Barney's :P

I have an amazingly cute pair of KORS Micheal Kors moccasins that's I've probably owned for about a year and never wore. So last week I decided I obviously needed to break them in, and I realized how much of a pain stretchy back flats can be!I almost immediately had to break out my emergency band aids and slap them on the back of my heels... but they were pretty obvious and keep falling off as I walk - yuck.
Then I remembered I had gotten some free super low foot covers by Kushy Foot and they were in my desk! The have foot pads on the ball and heel of the footie sock.
Hooray! it was so much better! They did peek out a little bit along the edges of my shoes, but they saved me from limping around and are definitely going into my bag for emergencies! Get three sets of two (one nude, one black) for $21 and thank me later!
I recently bought this LOFT necklace and it officially has become my summer go to piece! It's a touch on the statement side but not, and is deliciously ethnic - perfect to pair with a sundress and sandals, or how about some torn up jeans and a military shirt? Buy for just $35.
A couple a designer backpacks have been spotted about for Spring, including an $800 one by Lanvin and a studded Givenchy one. And Alexander Wang, king of trend starting, has a super cute version now available. And more than a few fashion forward celebrities have been spotted rocking the trend, including Rhianna (with a Gucci version), Katie Holmes, Mary-Kate Olsen (with a leather & fabric Pendleton one) Daisy Lowe and even Whitney Port (with a Prada nylon one). But the biggest fan seems to be Ashley Olsen, who's been spotted with at least three different backpacks! The above shot shows her rocking a Alexandra Cassaniti one, isn't it surprisingly cute??
I do think this trend could really take off, some I've complied an assortment of cute options for you! I'm super tempted by the J. Crew version myself!
Time for a post about an interesting, I want to share this piece that none of us would be able to afford! Brought to you by Pringle of Scotland (I can never think about that label with thinking, mmmmm Pringles!) this silk cardigan has multiple cutouts along the sleeves, giving it a mesh-like appearance. But it's a super $1,795 at Bergdorf Goodman - I would be more than happy to cut holes in your sweaters for half the cost, just let me know ;)

These slouchy silk pants by Alexander Wang are an awesome combination of luxe and military! I keep saying I'm going to boycott posting his way overpriced pieces because I remember when he was at least a little more affordable, but he really keeps putting out such great, unique items I can't stop myself! Buy these at Saks for $425. Sigh, remember when his stuff was around $275 to $350? I miss those days.

Every week I am always surprised by the selection of posts we receive here at IFB. I think back to before I started my blog, the discrimination I felt working in retail and adoring fashion, because it was shallow and it wasn’t academic. Now I look at the community I am a part of and think– how could anyone accuse fashion enthusiasts of being shallow? Or fashion designers, lovers of style? Indeed, like any frowned upon medium or niche, fashion has brains; it has ingenuity, it has controversy, it has creativity, and it has depth.
This week I want to celebrate those putting fashion and intellect together, to show that there’s more than meets that glittering eye…
Oh, and if you’re looking for something to do this summer… IFB is looking for interns!

I still have massive allergies today, but I will attempt to work through it so I can find cute items to tempt you with! Like this Diane von Furstenburg blouse on sale for $156! I really like the black & white lace print, though the graphic print pink is tres cute too!

It's Earth Day! To me, that apparently means the plants a trying to kill me with their pollen, so I appear to be getting nothing, including blogging, done! So here's a huge amount of eco-friendly fashion for you to peruse and hopefully entertain you for a bit.
Alexander does some of my favorite overpriced footwear, and right now I'm salivating over this double layer combat boots! They would look so cool with army pants or just a pair of cut offs, but they're a pricey $595 at La Garconne. Le sigh.

I'm not usually a fan of big, fringy hobos whengoing for the boho look, but I do love the combination of a ladylike frame bag with some leather tooling! It gives a similar feel but in a totally different and much more my style way. Buy this one at TopShop for $70.
WAH, I want to go to this!!! It just started right now at the Barney's on Madison Avenue: Alexander Wang, A.L.C., Richard Chai – LOVE, Wayne, Vena Cava, VPL, Helmut Lang, Shipley & Halmos, Rag & Bone and 3.1 Phillip Lim will all hold trunk shows simultaneously.... I die.
If theOutnet.com had this IRO linen tank dress in my size I would snatch it up in a heartbeat!!!! It looks so soft and cozy, has a great color and would be sexy by itself or amazing layered over a tank or even a bathing suit! And it's going for the 65% off price of $49!

I've been researching clogs for the past few months and this has been driving me batty. What exactly is the difference between a mule and a clog, and, while we're on the matter, are both considered a slide? Let's turn to the internet to help!
"The typical clog may be thought of as a closed toed wooden (or other) bottom shoe with a heel no more than a couple of inches high. These shoes are backless, unless they are clog boots, which may be mid-thigh length, and have wooden soles." I personally would like to add in that the most I've seen have round, bulbous toes. A close example of a "real" clog is this one I found at Free People:
On the other hand, mules tend to be dressier and have much higher heels. Their backs are also open, but their toes can vary more in shape, from bulbous to maybe square or even more pointed. They also don't need the wood base often seen in actual clogs. I currently wish this pair from ASOS came in black because I would buy them in a heartbeat!
Neither clogs nor mules are supposed to have open toes; that would make them slides!
Obviously stores and designers don't really pay attention to these definitions much and pretty much call their shoes whatever they'd like! But hopefully this will help you narrow your search and find a perfect pair for you. Here are some options to get you started!

I get so many compliments on my red heels that I went looking for another pair of brightly colored pumps so I could switch them out on occasion! And the I got totally distracted by all sorts of pretty floral print pumps ;) They're such a great way unexpectedly inject not only color, but fun prints into a look! I found all sorts of great options to share with you:
I went to the recent Shecky's Girl's Night Out event in DC last week and had a great time! The events feature tasty cocktails, fun music and of course SHOPPING! I saw some impressive discounts, like Fendi sunglasses marked down from $360 to just $150!
I wandered around for a bit, checking out the different vendors. As usual there were tons of jewelry, purses and sunglasses. Definitely lots of cute options in many different price points and everything with a special Shecky's discount! I did see more clothing this year, but most of it felt like something you could pick up at your local Wet Seal. There were also beauty products, lots of makeup and even a booth featuring hair extensions! Now if you could have gotten extensions then and there it would have been neat, but I'm sure that was too much of a time requirement, so it was pretty much just informational.
I was particularly amused by one booth selling various sex toys, corsets and the like? Why so amused? Well, just two stalls down were the "Jesus Groupies" girls selling tees and a variety of religious things... whoopsie!
There was also a huge section for HP and "Sex & the City 2." It mostly featured fun tech, and you could get your picture taken, put into a "Sex & the City" template and printed out then and there! I would have gotten one myself if the line wasn't so long.
Overall, Shecky's continues to be a super fun night out with girlfriends, and I definitely recommend checking out the next one in your area! See all my pictures here:
