Nicholas K F/W '11

I hit the ground running for fashion week this season with a 9am (hey, in my world, that's the crack of dawn!) showing of the latest collection from Nicholas K. Nicholas K was actually founded by the brother-sister team of Christopher and Nicholas Kunz—Nicholas is the sister in case you are confused. While Fasshonaburu has covered the Nicholas K runway show previously, this was the first opportunity yours truly had to catch the show first-hand.

The collection bore a grunge aesthetic that could have easily been accompanied with some early 90s Nirvana and Pearl Jam tracks (but thankfully, the DJ went with some more original choices). Mix those flannels with some hard-lined militaristic touches in black and autumn earth tones, layer on varied textures of fur, leather, velvet, and knits, then top it all off with some kick-ass super platform field boots from Vintage Shoe Company, and you get a tough, urban collection with style to spare.

Most impressive feat? This dude rocking green velvet pants and still looking cooler than most the people in the room.

I need these pants in my life.

Check out the platform field boots. One model had a major trip 'n fall in hers, but I love the look.

This show was my first opportunity to take my fancy digital SLR and rented lens out for a test spin, and I got some fantastic photos! See the whole collection below:
