This sleeveless, linen-blend cardigan is a great way to add dimension to your look while staying cool this summer! Buy at Calvin Klein for the sale price of $55.

Pamela Love did some pieces for TopShop?? Who knew! Though apparently they're a part of some "secret store collection" - shhhh, don't tell anyone. Three matching pieces, earrings, a bracelet and a necklace. The necklace is definitely the best, you can buy at TopShop for 180.
I love tuxedo blazers, and I particularly love tails!! This menswear jacket perfectly compliments a feminine shape by being cropped in the front. Buy at Nordstrom for the sale price of $99 - I'm so impossibly tempted but must remind myself that I would rarely wear this... or would I?

Many of you know that I'll be getting married this fall! Well, the date is fast approaching and I've been getting tons done. But I still need to consider what my wedding band will be. To be honest, we didn't budget much for the bands, I plan on upgrading on the one or three or five year anniversary. So I'm looking for an interim band that's pretty and fun and will be wearable after I get a new band!
To be honest, I plan to continue mostly wearing my engagement ring. I adore it and do not like the idea of wearing it and my band on the same finger. I could switch it to my right hand, but my ring finger on the right is two sizes bigger than the left! And what does it matter? For me, the symbol of commitment came with the engagement ring, not really sure why there's a second at all. But I suppose I won't turn down more jewelry ;)
Since I doubt I'll often wear both at the same time, I thought maybe I can get a gold wedding band for when I want a different metal. I wanted something that felt simple and organic, but could pass for a regular ring once I get a new one. These are the two I've found so far:On the left is a gold and aquamarine ring by Christine Mighion. I like the hammered texture of the band and aquamarine is my birth stone! On the right is a rose gold ring by Tina Tang. I love rose gold and the liquid look of the piece!
So which do you think I should go with? If you have a recommendation yourself and it's under $250, leave it in the comments!!!
One of the bestest tv shows around, "True Blood," is coming back June 26! In celebration, there's some new handbags available for pre-orderat HBO.com/Store. And not some cheap stuff with the True Blood logo thrown on - Hammit makes quality, designer things. Not that I don't love my Fantasia tee, at least wasn't $395 or more! Best of all, there's a specifc bag for Sookie, Fangtasia, Alcie, Layfayette and (swoon) Eric! Can you guess which is whose? Hover your cursor over the image to see if you're right! When you came in the air went out...
And every shadow filled up with doubt.
I don't know who you think you are
But before the night is through...
I wanna do bad things with you.

If you’re a fashion blogger, or even just an avid reader of fashion blogs, you’re probably already on the technology savvy side. But, while you may be more tech-telligent than the average person, it’s important to never get complacent! You constantly read style and fashion blogs for inspiration and news, but how much time do you devote to the latest new and innovations in technology?
It may be near impossible to stay on the very top of two separate industries, (three if your full-time job is unrelated!!!), but IFB is here to help! Always the most relevant information for the fashion, hopefully ChicGeek will not only keep you up-to-date on technology, but help you constantly improve your blog.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Balmain, one of my most favorite designers that I could never afford, has confirmed rumors of a diffusion line! The fashion house was known for glam French elegance for many decades, though hit some hard times after the designer's death in the 80s. Luckily for all of us, the hiring of designer Christophe Decarnin in 2005 had completely reinvigorated the brand! He added a tough chic aesthetic, to create an amazing party girl vibe that fashionistas covet at all times! Though now under a new designer, Olivier Rousteing, I think the collections are as strong as ever.Alas, the clothes are notoriously expensive—items are easily $2,000 and more and dresses are frequently more than $10,000! But this new diffusion line, to be called Pierre Balmain, will hopefully be more accessible. Watch for it in the spring of 2012!
This Theory blazer is loose and flowy from the front, but fitted and cropped in the back - the best of both worlds! Would look equally cute over a party dress as a tank and jeans, buy at Ssense, originally $395 but now on sale for $276!

Light up dresses are not new - Katy Perry wore one to last year's Met Costume Institute Gala that changed color! The designers of her dress, Cute Circuit, do a lot of great technology meets fashion pieces, I think I should do a write-up on them next! And in 2007, Hussein Chalayan showed a well-regarded LED dress at Paris Fashion Week. It seems light-up dresses have been "the future of fashion" for quite awhile now!
But it wasn't until last night that I saw a truly wearable light-up dress. During the Billboard Music Awards, Fergie wore a dress designed by Philips Lighting and stylist B. Akerlund, using light-infused fabric to light up with the beat of the music.
Unlike previous incarnations this dress felt surprisingly subtle, less "Look at me, I'm BLINKING!!!!!" and more "Here's a fun enhancement to the little black dress!"
Chief Design Officer for Philips said: “As a brand, we seek out to work with artists from a range of different industries to evolve and revolutionise the way we use light. When Fergie challenged us to create something new for her, we wanted to design something that could bring an additional dimension to their audience and help showcase how light can further enhance experiences. What is remarkable with this dress is the way the lighting is integrated with the fabric and works in tandem with the beat of the music."
I'd love to learn more about this technology, which doesn't appear to be LED lights, though may possibly be OLED (organic light emitting diode) technology, which can be flat and flexible. You'd think there would be more info on the tech - some people care, dammit! I think OLEDs are the secret to developing wearable lights - you stop looking like a tacky Christmas tree and start looking TRON!
I want to thank all the fabulous people who came by the After 5 Event at Banana Republic last Thursday! You may remember the outfit I styled for the event, so I put it on and went out to meet people, have fun and put together great spring looks for people! It was so awesome, particularly meeting my fellow DC fashion blogger hosts, So Much to Smile About, District of Chic and Project Beltway! They were super sweet, it was great to go through the store and start trying on various fun pieces with them - nothing better than shopping with the fashion-obsessed! I also met the super chic Megan Nielsen and Ana of DMV's Got Style - be sure to check out their sites and support the local fashion community!
Three beautiful sisters stopped by the store to check out the latest spring fashions and were nice enough to let me put some outfits together for them! For Julie I pulled a beautiful sparkly dress and ruffle front vest from the BR Monogram collection. Monica got an amazing wrap fishtail maxi skirt that I must find in petite, a neon yellow tank and a great panama hat. And Seneca rocked a silk ikat pencil skirt, pink top and super snazzy suede vest.

I'm trying to do a better job of watching my inbox for designers I think have actual potential! I was recently sent the Fall/Winter h e i k j a r i c k lookbook - what do you think? The NY-based designer, who launched her line in 2000, contrasts structuring tailoring with flowy draping - add in a dash of unexpected fabrications and you're got some stand out designs! Her fall collection seems akin to designers like Helmut Lang and Rick Ownens - two of my favorites! You can purchase directly from her site, with pieces ranging from $225 for tops and skirts up to more than $1,000 for a coat.
The fashion buzz today is about Gap My Price, a website where you can bid on Gap fashion.I guess similar to other auction sites, you name the max price you would be willing to pay and either receive exclusive coupons or end up winning the item. There are 15 items on the site right now, all the typical bland Gap style. I tried to haggle down a cardigan, but it refused to get lower than $54... with a retail cost of $54.95Overall Gap has pretty consistently annoyed me over the past few years and this new campaign is no exception. Let's focus on affordable, non-boring fashion first, marketing strategy second!

I was alerted to a new store designer collaboration via Eat Sleep Denim, Pendleton Meets Opening Ceremony!I had never heard of Pendleton before, it appears to be a Western ranch style clothing brand popular in the West. Combine that with Opening Ceremony and you get massively awesome frontier chic!!! I'm loving the southwestern style prints, versatility of the pieces and the great shapes! I'm not loving the prices, which range from $220 and up, with the exception of socks. Someone get me the horseshoe sweater!
I really heart this Simeon Farrar for Japan tee! I love shopping for a good cause, but I think it's important to design tees that would also stand alone. This Kate Mouse print is so cute, I would buy even if 50% of the proceeds didn't go to Japan Red Cross! Buy at Net-A-Porter for $80.

A loooong time ago I posted on convertible heels - shows that went from stilettos to flats. Well, there's a new product on its way, Day2Night Convertible Heels! To be honest, I was really skeptical on this idea. I mean, the big difficultly with changing your heel height is changing the pitch of the sole. But Day2Night heels have flexible sole, making them work at any angle!
Fund their project on Kickstarter - for $150 you get a pair of shoes once they hit mass production - SO worth it for shoes! I'm officially a backer and I really think you should be too!

Knotted macramé is super summery, but the dove grey coloring adds a sophisticated vibe to these killer heels by L.A.M.B.! Couldn't you imagine pairing this with a chic circle skirt and some oversized sunglasses? Buy at Piperlime for $325.

Sigh, Blogger is back up but my fabulous posts are gone! But I loved this outfit so much, so I am getting this back up! :P
Banana Republic asked me to help host the After 5 Event at a local store, along with fellow DC fashion blogettes So Much to Smile About, District of Chic, and Project Beltway! To make sure I was appropriately dressed, they gave me a giftcard so I could craft an amazing outfit. When I entered the store, I really didn't have a clue as to what kind of look I wanted to create! I just started grabbing everything that caught my eye; the poor sales girl had to take three loads of clothes off my hands before I even started to try anything on! And then I saw this amazing tiered ruffle skirt!
I immediately knew it had to be the star of my outfit. With the subtle snake print, I though it would be great to have printed top as well - so chic right now! I had been trying on striped pink tees, but then this beautiful pale blue snakeskin shell caught my eye. It all fell into place!
I added on the knit vest to make sure the two separates were pulled together into one, cohesive outfit, and then some fun accessories. Throw in a fountain and tah dah!
So if you're in the area be sure to stop by the After 5 Event on Thursday May 19 from 5 to 7 PM to say hi!
