IFBCON Spring 2012
Back in NYC and first up is seeing my fabulous ladies at the IFCON! I spent most of the day dragging bloggers off to meet the sponsoring team of The Find, which was fun as I got to meet lots of people! Luckily I put my best foot forward with my outfit:
There was tons of good conversation, but there were a few things that stood out to me that I want to share, most applicable to the every day online woman, whether she's a blogger or not.
- Don't fight in public forums like Twitter or Facebook! Most people want to defend themselves from attackers, but either ignore or take it offline. Unless you're picking a fight with Snooki on Twitter - I'd sure watch that!
- Don't be Debbie Downer. "Ugghh, so sorry I've been MIA yet again, so much drama waaaah" all the time makes people want to run the other direction. Your friends and followers care about what's really going on in your life, but if you're negative all the time you'll find you have less and less of them.
- Do stay true to yourself and your own unique voice. And you can focus less on general fashion and let your other interests in, making you super niche. I'm gonna start adding in posts on my geek girl-ness more often, maybe dance if I get brave enough! I'm still not sure if I have anything truly unique to say, but I'm gonna at least stay true to myself! Remember that who you are online really is your brand. Make sure you're happy to say that.
It was an amazing event per usual and I got to see lots of old friends and meet some hopefully new ones! Lots of other lovely ladies were dressed to impressed and I'm sure you want to get some inspiration:
