My Style Challenge: Subtle Mixed Prints for the Bidens

Over the weekend I went to a special reading of Dr. Jill Biden's children's book for military kids with her, her grand daughter and her husband! I was live tweeting the event so I needed to be able to move about, not melt in DC heat and avoid sticky children, but look professional, of course! I decided I would rock some subtle mixed prints.... yes, it IS possible, just take a look!

There are two key elements to this whole "subtle mixed prints" concept:
  1. One of the prints needs to be very neutral/low contrast. My grey pants with white dots barely feel like a print to me!
  2. Find a good neutral to pull your look together. My navy shirt tones down the outfit's boldness and actually separates the prints right at the waist, which helps a surprising amount!
I'm wearing: J. Crew shirt & striped tee, dotted pants from Anthropologie, sandals I think DV by Dolce Vita, Jill Stuart purse, sunglasses a gift from a friend. My jewelry includes C Wonder necklace, ASOS earrings courtesy of Buyosphere, Jimmy Choo for H&M stuf bracelet, spike bracelet courtesy of Stella & Dot, ASOS armor ring.
And look who I got my picture taken with!
I don't discuss politics on my blog because I enjoy disagreeing with people too much, but I can tell you VP Biden was very nice and great with children!
