Sigh, of course Flannels would be having a clearance sale when I'm not allowed to buy anything! Look at this super pretty Moschino Cheap & Chic top, which is now on sale for £130 or about $196 US dollars. I know that doesn't sound cheap, but it was originally $490 US dollars!

Ugh, what a killer morning... So here's a super pretty trench coat that's just perfect for spring! I love the blue, though it's also available in white and black, and has a pretty neck tie and interesting front closure. But for the awesome sale price of $38 at Tulle.

Label to Watch: Romygold

Romygold bags were recently brought to my attention and I totally fell in love! I'm particularly fond of the Biker Slash collection, which is totally cool and edgy without a single stud or chain! Similarly, the Slit Tote collection in covered in hundred of tears, though a bit smaller to give more of a net/mesh effect. The bags are pricey though, with some of the smallest pieces still a hefty $275.

Open Back Socks

I really liked these open back socks, which were sent down the Alexander Wang Spring runway. Hopefully Opening Ceremony won't sell out soon, because they're a pretty affordable $55 and I totally plan to buy the second the month ends!

My Fashion Challenge: Superhero!

Since I'm the biggest nerd ever and my sister got me these AMAZING earrings...
By day, she's a mild mannered fashion blogger and domestic goddess!
But with the touch of her earrings...
She turns into Glamourosu! Faster than Anna Wintour darting out of a show! More powerful than an invite the to Chanel sample sale! Able to simultaneously shop Gilt, Hautelook, Rue La La and Ideeli at once! It's Glamourosu!

My top outfit was "superhero-inspired." I wore the lightening bolt earrings, a tight red tee that felt like a leotard to me, my gray skirt and of course my over the knee boots! When I went home I wanted to be even more superhero-esque so I put on my lightening bolt dress from TopShop. Hmm, it's a bit too low cut to be worn to work, but it's so fabulous! Would a tank underneath work?

Mixed Metal Chain Necklace

Hold the phone, when did Emma Watson create a collection with ethical UK fashion label People Tree??? It seems it launched in February, why didn't anyone alert me to this??

The collection looks comfy and seems to have something for everyone - a dash of boho here, some prep there and some British edge scattered in between. Prices range from $30 for a tank top to $197 for a hand knit cardigan. Of course everything is organic and fair trade, and you can buy at Asos.

A Fashion Education: Thakoon

Thakoon (pronounced "ta - koon" with no "h") is another designer I think everyone should know! He debuted his first collection in 2004 and soon caught the eye of Anna Wintour, quickly raising him into "upcoming fashion star" status. But it wasn't until Michelle Obama wore a floral dress by the designer that he really became a power player in the industry. Known for a very feminine, almost ethereal aesthetic, I die for his printed pieces, particularly his bright spring looks. His Fall 2010 collection was very primal filtered through his romantic style resulting in a breathtaking collection that I'm sure will continue to win him fans.

I have never seen an ethnic, almost boho-equse bandage skirt before now! This Pleasure Doing Business skirt has pretty gold detailing that calls to mind a sari or Turkish tapestry. G-Star Raw F/W '10

Ok, so I know I'm running mad late with this but NFL (no, not football-Non Fashion Life) got in the way. For the second season in a row, I closed out my fashion week with the G-Star Raw show and once again it was a fittingly spectacular ending. As before, the collection was shown in the cavernous Hammerstein Ballroom, and again I had a great view of all the action from the balcony.

With a dramatic pulse of lights the show began and models poured out onto the runway bedecked in vivid yellows, blues and greens that could have come straight from a crayon box. With a constant stream of looks coming down three runaways simultaneously, accompanied by images and text animated across giant LED screens, not to mention a booming soundtrack ... well, let's just say if your attention wasn't captured, you were probably comatose.

The Fall line was inspired by 19th century coach driver uniform. The collection had feeling of working class vintage clothing, punched up by bright modern colors, and of course, plenty of denim. I look forward to seeing the collection in stores come Fall. When the skies are gray and overcast, these will be the perfect clothes to add a little sunshine to your outfit!

The G-Star show is usually a crazy smorgasbord of celebrities, and this was no exception. My camera caught G-star campaign model Liv Tyler in head to toe G-star electric blue. Other notable attendees included: Adam Lambert, Adrienne Bailon, Agyness Deyn, Estelle, John Legend, Kelly Osbourne, Liv Tyler, Matthew Settle, Mena Suvari, Miss J. Amy Winehouse Clothing Collection

Apparently Amy Winehouse is collaborating with British label Fred Perry to launch a clothing collection this October. The collection, which will wholesale for between about $32 and $150, will continue over four seasons and be sold in Fred Perry Authentic boutiques as well as through select wholesalers globally.

When I first heard the news I was imagining train wreck in clothing form. After seeing the sketches I saw there was something even worse: boring. Certainly you can see Amy's retro, rockabilly style, but there's no real stand out, attention grabbing piece in the bunch! Overall, the only way I can describe these looks are "meh." Hopefully it'll be more interesting in person.

My Fashion Challenge: Mixing Preppy Prints

Ann Taylor LOFT sent me this beautiful scarf to review for Lucky's Style Spotter and I just knew I had to base one of my fashion challenges around it! I have a love/hate relationship with the brand. I hate that every woman in DC shops builds her work wardrobe there (and J. Crew of course!) and I hate the preppy association I have with the store. But I actually love a LOT of the pieces and how they're styled, even though they could use more studs and leather on occasion ;) So I decided to craft an outfit that may be preppy, but also have a subtle, arty edge that I love so much!
Can I saw how pleased I was with the results?? I decided to jazz things up by mixing some preppy prints. The floral scarf over the nautical stripes had a great effect without being too in-your-face. And paired with some cuffed capris and killer heels, I felt like a gamine ready to traipse about Paris!
Here's a close up shot of the scarf next to the stripes.
And here are my heels. I was wearing a fuchsia pink polish, saw how horrid it looked with the soft pastel pink, quickly layered on a sheer blue ivory (OPI's Over the Moon) and ended up with a pretty, iridescent purple, yay! Let me know what you think of my look!

My Fashion Challenge: Over the Knee Boots

So I got my fabulous new Stuart Weitzman 5050 over the knee boots (50% off in-store at Bloomies!!) and finally found a pair of boots that don't accidentally slouch on me... too much. My ankles are like four inches around, I should have drank more milk while I was growing up!!! But I digress, I wanted to pair with a skirt for work, but definitely had fears that it would be to much for my office.

I ended up wearing my most favorite piece - my Paul & Joe circle pocket skirt. Don't you just love its fun, bright color? I decided on my knit grey tights, which would still show off the boots but give a more conservative feel, and a black top... kinda boring, I know! Since I took the easy way out with a black top I added a dash of panache with a neck scarf - probably my favorite way to jazz up an outfit when it gets warm out! It's super easy, not over the top and feels like just the right amount of Parisian chic. And this one tied my skirt and coat together perfectly! It's got a great heart print, I should have taken a close up! I promise to start taking detail shots from now on.
