I was gifted an amazing Saddleback Leather satchel, and I have to say it's probably my most favorite present ever!! Exactly what I imagine Indiana Jones would carry, it easily fits my netbook and converts to a backpack!! The satchels run from $275 to $335, depending on the size, but there are other items from wallets to overnight bags to look at too! They feel like they should be sold at J. Peterman, don't you think?

The style district of Washington DC, Georgetown, will transform into a shopper’s paradise on September 10, 2010 from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. as over 60 Georgetown stores, restaurants and salons participate in an epic evening of shopping, entertainment and fashion events during the global shopping celebration, Fashion’s Night Out. From Cirque du Soleil performances around the neighborhood, live music, a chic lounge exclusively for shoppers, and even a Wii tournament, Georgetown’s Fashion’s Night Out promises shoppers a memorable evening celebrating the fashion industry in DC’s most stylish neighborhood.

Previously mentioned on IFB, being a fashion blogger is rough on your bank account. Looking daily at fabulous items you could add to you closet is quite a temptation! In addition, you feel a constant pressure to look cute, have the latest it shoes, go to NYC twice a year for fashion week, and discuss your fabulous purchases with your readers.

About five years ago I started blogging about shopping. I paid my credit card off every month and had no debt. Well today my balance is neared maxed out and I'm gonna have to intervention myself. Don't get me wrong, I'm no "confessions of a Shopaholic." I have just one credit card, I pay way more the minimum every month, my credit score is surprisingly high, I do not throw away my bills in hopes they disappear. BUT maybe that's my problem - I'm in denial because my situation is just not desperate enough. Even though I now have to save up for a wedding, I still spend like an irresponsible teenager.So here I am, making a public commitment to pay off my card in one year. At least once a week I will report on my progress, my relapses and my successes. I will unsubscribe to all the various sample sale site newsletter where I impulsively buy items "because look how much they're on sale! I lose money if I don't buy them!" I will make a list of items I actually need and only buy those. I will still treat myself on occasion, but keep myself in check. I will create an account on Mint.com and follow a budget. And instead of daydreaming about winning the lottery, I will daydream about the day I pay off my credit card completely and fiscally grow up.

I will need lots of positive reinforcement as the year goes on; I know it's annoying to reward someone for acting the way they should have been already but bear with me! Eventually my habits will change!

My Style Challenge: Ann Taylor's Little Black Dress Campaign

When I was invited to participate in Society Stylist's Ann Taylor Little Black Dress Campaign, I was immediately thrilled, followed by a sense of dread. My daily pressure to style cute outfits is already high, but this take it to a whole other level!

So how to take a classic LBD and style it to make it "me." I've been on a personal journey this year to understand my own style and elevate it to new heights. So far I've discovered that accessories are your friend, color is best when paired with more color and that it never hurts to look a little badass. Love this off-kilter shot, but those blasted tourists in the background kept climbing up and down the Exorcist stairs. Yes, these are the scary three stories of steps that are fallen down in the climax of the movie, right here in Georgetown - a mecca of history, dining and great fashion in Washington, DC. I was surprised at how many people were there taking pictures!

In my continuing quest to find the best Etsy stores out there, I came across this gem! r e d d o l l by Tatyana Merenyuk has beautifully constructed pieces in fluid, feminine shapes. She works with lots of luxe fabrics, silk organza and chiffons, and has a sweet, romantic aesthetic that manages to be classic and unexpected at the same time!
The designer grew up in Ukraine, had been living in Chicago for awhile, but is relocating to NYC to pursue her dream, mayhaps we've discovered the next big designer??? I can't help but think of Leanna Marshall, I hope Tatyana tries out for the next season of "Project Runway" and I think the judges would be crazy not to immediately see her talent!
