Silk Pleated Skirt

Silk Pleated SkirtI read somewhere that "fall florals" will be big in autumn, and I'm trying to figure out what makes a floral print fall-like. I'm guessing darker, more muted colors, such as burgundy and gold. So this Elie Tahari skirt could could as a fall floral, right? Buy at Bloomingdale's for $345.

Fall 2008: Bold Lace

One of the biggest trends for this fall will be bold lace, best shown by Prada's Fall/Winter '08-'09 runway show. It's important to note that this isn't delicate or sweet looking lace - it's bold, almost gothic looking and usually over a nude ling for maximum impact.

Clear Wayfarers

Clear WayfarersCan I just say that I called this clear / translucent sunglasses trend back in March? See, if you read my blog, you can become a trend setter, much better than a follower ;) Anyhoo, more people are saying it's a trend now, so here's another pair for you, available at LeeLeeLunettes.com for $325.
PS, I recently said cat eyed sunglasses will be big next, maybe I'll be right again?

Natural Rock Wrap Ring

Natural Rock Wrap RingEven if natural rock jewelry wasn't in, in, in, I think I still would love this ring! Buy at Harmony Lane for the surprisingly reasonable price of $99.

Rough Cut Amethyst Ring

Another trend I've been feeling is natural stone jewelry! I love this rough cut amethyst ring by Alexis Bittar. Unfortunately, it's at a lust-worthy price of $375 at Nordstrom.

Colorblocked Swimwear

I'm really feeling colorblocked swimwear! There's something very fresh and modern about the look. Plus, we all know the cardinal rule: light colors enhance, dark colors minimize. Colorblocked swim is perfect for this!

Fringe for Fall 2008

Fringe will be everywhere for Fall 2008, but since it's boho style you can start incorporating pieces into your outfits now! It was all over the runways, including Cavalli, Galliano, Vanessa Bruno, Ungaro and many more. I love how it adds the element of movement and fluidity to a look, but remember that it's styled more hippie than flapper. One of the ways it's different is that boho fringe usually can lay flat, whilst flapper fringe is more like round rope.

The Mens' Shorts Suit

GQ is swearing that the mens' shorts suit is becoming more and more acceptable. Jhane Barnes and Sabato Russo both showed shorts suits in their recent shows and they seem to be very popular in the UK right now. I personally think it makes a guy look like a boyscout, but if you want to be on the cutting edge of mens' fashion you can buy matching shorts and jackets at TopMen (the TopShop men's store).

Chipped Nails

I just read a New York Times article about fashionistas purposely having chipped nails...
"PITY the mothers and grandmothers. Visible bra straps, glaringly obvious roots — these are but a few of the grooming no-nos that have become yes-yeses in recent years.
Now there is another stylistic tic that would have been unthinkable on a proper lady in your Aunt Beatrice’s day. Over the last few years — since the era of the skull print scarf, let’s say, or the (metaphorical) rise of the Olsen twins — having streaked, chipped or just plain grotty nail polish no longer suggests drug addiction, manual labor or pure laziness. Like untied high-tops, thread-worn jeans and bedhead, it’s now part of a deliberate look.
And chipped polish is not sported solely by nail-biting school students and downtown punkers. It has been spotted uptown, in professional settings and gala parties, behind department store sales counters and even (gasp!) on beauty and fashion industry insiders."
That's just the first three paragraphs, but you get the idea! While I appreciate how much easier it is to let a manicure go a few days, doesn't this just feel like an excuse to be lazy?

Thick Ankle Straps On Shoes

I suppose thick ankle straps are a bit of an offshoot of the gladiator sandals trend. I personally think they make my legs look short, but when paired with a mini dress or short shorts they look quite chic. Here are some options for you!

Khaki Linen Romper

Khaki Linen RomperThe romper has taken off in London, but will the States follow suit? I hear it's getting big in NYC so I'll go ahead and say yes! I know I love mine from Opening Ceremony. You can buy this one, which I think is more safari than military, from Asos for £75 or about $149 US dollars.

Cut Out Embroidered Top

Cut Out Embroidered TopWow, cut out embroidery has just exploded as the latest trend for Spring / Summer! Look chic without breaking the bank with this top found at South Moon Under for $60.

UPDATE: You can buy the black version for only $40 at Lulu*s Fashion Lounge! At least, I'm 95% sure this is the same shirt.

Circular Fashion

I just read somewhere that blue nails will be trendy for Fall.... really?!?!? I'm beginning to feel like we have two cycles - boho for Spring / Summer and gothic leather for Fall / Winter. Brights for S/S; dark plums and navy for F/W. Sailor for S/S; Equestrian for F/W. Girly for S/S; Menswear for F/W. We must break the cycle! Latch onto new trends and discard them just as quickly! Wait, maybe it's more sensible to not have to toss last season's wardrobe... And we do still have new trends popping up, such as painterly and stars. What trends are you ready to chuck though? Personally, I may vomit is I see another sequin covered dress or top!

Bright Wayfarers

Bright WayfarersSo pretty much every young celeb has been rockin' brightly colored Wayfarers lately. But I doubt you want to drop a lot of money on a trend that will be gone in 4 months, so why not invest in these at Fred Flare? Only $10 and they come in red, blue, green, purple, black, clear, orange and more!

Dripping Print Tank Top

Dripping Print Tank TopI am in love with the painterly trend!! Here's another piece, a bit overpriced but technically affordable. Buy it at Vivre for $280.

Rompers

Am I insane or has there been a surge of rompers in stores lately? I recently bought the Chloë Sevigny romper from Open Ceremony when I was in New York and I can't wait to wear it! I must be regressing back to the tender age of three, when these were the hotness. Here are some other options for you:

Some ways to wear rompers are with tall, flat boots or with cute flats. You could also wear a short skirt over it, giving you protection from panty flashes.

Patterned Tights

I'm personally still obsessed with finding ombré tights, but you can't deny that there are tons of girls wearing patterned tights right, especially in London, Paris and New York! I especially like Look From London tights, though their site is crap. Luckily, other sites carry some of their pieces, like these found on Unsung Designers for $22!

Watercolor Top

I recently posted about the wearbale art trend, but 99% of the pieces I found were super expensive. But hooray, here's a top that's cute and actually affordable. Buy it at Wet Seal for $23.
I now a have a looong meeting to attend :(

Lust for Less: Clear Sunglasses

I have a random hankering (that's right, I said hankering) for clear sunglasses. So I looked them up and found a bunch in different price ranges.

First we have the most expensive, even though it's on sale at Bluefly. These Oliver Peoples shades were originally $285 but are currently $143.

These are my favorite, they're sold at Ralph Lauren for $89.

And finally, here is a Wayfarer version for $16 at Urban Outfitters.
Would you wear this trend?
